Camps, Lessons, + "green gold" : Oona Notes #8

Hello friends -

Reporting in from GrassRoots Culture Camp and Festival.  Such a special week!  We're only a day and a half in, but my time has been chock full of sitting in on fantastic classes, playing music, visiting with friends old and new, listening and dancing to music, eating delicious food… oh, and teaching too.  My Irish fiddle students yesterday were fantastic - they picked up two reels in an hour (wow!) and asked great questions, and I can't wait to get back to it today.

Speaking of teaching, James and I are leading a music camp for teens and/or young people with some music experience at Caffe Lena called Troubadours in Training.  It runs next week (July 21-25) and I just heard that there are a couple open spots left - plus generous scholarships available!  I'm really looking forward to this chance to spend the week going in-depth on some musical explorations with a great group of young people.  Learn more on my Educator page or contact matt@caffelena.org if you have questions.

If you are looking for private lessons rather than camp, I have three more pop up dates: July 30th + August 6th & 27th.  All the details are here.

I harvested the first batch of green gold (a.k.a. basil) from my garden last week and am so excited for a summer of eating fresh bites from my garden and enjoying some flowers tenderly grown from seed.

Lots of music with Drank The Gold on the horizon too - a couple highlights in August are a concert at Great Camp Sagamore on 8/20 and dinner music at The Cock ‘n Bull on 8/22, and then in September we go sailing on the Schooner American Eagle 9/21-25 as the house band and we’d love to welcome you aboard!  All the details are on my calendar.

I look forward to meeting you on the dusty trail and I always love to hear from you if you feel like dropping a line!
